Melbourne, Australia – 13 July 2026
Victorian International Institute of Technical Education (VIITE) recently provided its Culinary Arts and Hospitality students with an exceptional industry learning opportunity through a Professional Hospitality Industry Immersion Visit to The Westin Melbourne, one of Australia’s leading five-star hotels. The visit formed part of VIITE’s ongoing commitment to delivering industry-connected education that prepares students for successful careers in the hospitality sector.
Students enrolled in the SIT40521 Certificate IV in Kitchen Management, SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management, and SIT60322 Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management participated in the immersive experience, gaining valuable firsthand exposure to the standards, operations, and culture of a world-class hospitality environment.
Hosted by Executive Chef Apoorva Kunte, the visit offered students exclusive behind-the-scenes access to professional kitchen operations while providing practical insights into the day-to-day realities of working within an internationally recognised hospitality brand. Through a guided presentation, industry discussion, and mentoring session, students explored the skills, professionalism, and operational excellence required to succeed in modern commercial kitchens.
Students also gained a broader understanding of career opportunities within Marriott International, learning about the organisation’s people-first culture, global career pathways, and commitment to developing hospitality professionals. Chef Apoorva Kunte introduced students to the Marriott Culinary Academy, highlighting its role in nurturing culinary talent and supporting professional growth across Australia’s hospitality industry.
The visit reinforced the importance of connecting classroom learning with real-world industry experience, enabling students to deepen their understanding of hospitality operations while building the confidence, knowledge, and professional awareness expected by leading employers.
VIITE also acknowledges the valuable contribution of Chef Sridhar Sigatapu, VIITE Culinary Teacher, whose ongoing guidance and commitment continue to support students in developing the practical skills and professional mindset required for successful careers in hospitality. The institute further recognises the leadership of Dr. Daman Shrivastav, Chief Executive Officer of VIITE, whose vision for industry engagement continues to create meaningful opportunities that strengthen student learning and graduate employability.
By collaborating with leading hospitality organisations, VIITE remains committed to providing students with authentic industry experiences that complement vocational education and foster strong connections between education and the workplace. Initiatives such as this Professional Hospitality Industry Immersion Visit play an important role in preparing graduates to meet the evolving needs of Australia’s hospitality industry with confidence, professionalism, and practical expertise.
VIITE extends its sincere appreciation to Executive Chef Apoorva Kunte and the entire team at The Westin Melbourne for their warm hospitality, generosity, and commitment to supporting the development of the next generation of hospitality professionals.
